The OTL offers three types of classroom observations:
All observations are completely confidential and feedback is provided only to the individual faculty member.
An OTL consultant will meet with you to discuss your goals for an observation and to plan the observation visit. Following the observation, the OTL consultant will meet with you to provide feedback, answer questions, and discuss and explore new teaching strategies. To schedule an observation please call Kristi Jordan, 577-6448.

Small
Group Information
Feedback Session (SGIF).
SGIFs provide faculty
members with information from their students about their teaching. It is
usually conducted about midway through the term. This feedback allows instructors
to learn more about how the students are engaging with the course so modifications
or explanations can be provided to students to enhance their learning for
the rest of the term.
An OTL consultant will confer with you to review the process and determine the
issues that you wish to have explored with your students. The consultant will
then arrange to attend all or part of one class to observe and then conduct a
20-30 minute session with your students to gather feedback from them. Students
are told that individual comments will not be identified to the faculty member—
only
areas of general concensus will be relayed to the faculty member.
All results are discussed
only with the faculty member concerned and are completely confidential. To
learn more or to schedule a SGIF, please call Kristi Jordan, 577-6448.

Videotaped Classroom Observation.
An OTL consultant will visit your class and videotape it during a scheduled session. Following the class, we will schedule a time for you to view and discuss the session. We can address methods of delivery, ways to liven up presentations, and other suggestions for further engaging your students. All material remains confidential, and you will be provided with the video of the session. For more information or to schedule a session, contact Kristi Jordan at 577-6448.
