Assoc. Professor of English
Geoff Nathan, Faculty Liaison for C&IT and Associate Professor of English, provided an overview of how copyright laws affect how you teach, whether in the classroom or online. As the world has moved into Web 2.0, all of us are making greater use of web-based technology to do things through our web browsers that we did previously on our computers, such as file storage, watching videos, and writing papers. We are also engaging in new ways of interacting with others around the world (and around the block), such as blogs, wikis, tweets, and social networking sites. Because of these technological shifts, our professional and personal lives have become more complex and the laws and interpretations of those laws keep changing. Professor Nathan outlined the crucial ways in which the latest in copyright laws and interpretations apply to your classroom and online roles.
