Media Services
The Library System strives to support teaching and learning at Wayne State University by providing technical assistance, advice, and customer service in the areas of faculty research-related support, multimedia/audiovisual equipment support, audio and video taping services, teleconference scheduling, and digital support for instruction.
If you plan to use multimedia equipment regularly in your course you should:
- Request assignment to a classroom where the equipment you need is already permanently installed (either with your college or one of the equipped general purpose classrooms.)
- Check to see what equipment is in your classroom or a classroom you might request. A list of classrooms and the technology in each is available at: http://www.lib.wayne.edu/services/labs/rooms.php.

Library Computing and Media Services and e-Reserves are WSU course and classroom support services provided centrally for all WSU instructors. These units are a part of the WSU Library System. A brief description of the services and direct links to information on those services are provided below:
- Library Computing and Media Services Policies & Procedures: How to order classroom equipment/who is eligible
- AV Equipment Request: If your classroom is not equipped for delivery of the media you need, you can reserve the equipment in advance (e.g. computer, projector, VCR)
- e-Reserves (ERes): If you would like to have materials put on reserve for student use, the University Libraries can make digital copies available for you and your students. With ERes, "fair use" determinations and permissions will be secured by the WSU Librarians so you can safely post your documents to Blackboard
- e-Lectures: Media Services can produce an audio stream of your lectures for the Web from a variety large lecture halls. For information on how to make the most of streamed lectures, please contact an OTL consultant
- Digital Media Production Services: Library Computing and Media Services offers support for many large digital projects. Contact Library Computing and Media Services to request conversion of your materials to digital format for use in classroom presentations and for use on the Web. For smaller projects, the OTL has a Technology Learning Lab where you can digitize 35mm slides, VCR tapes, printed materials, and DV tapes with the help of an OTL consultant
- Reservable Computer Labs: You can reserve a computer lab for your class up to three times a semester. Click on the link above for contact information and reserving a computer lab
